These Terms of Service set out the conditions for using “RoboPet Life” (robopetlife.com, the “Service”), a website operated by KETCHUPs Inc. (ケチャップ株式会社, the “Company”). Everyone who registers as a member (a “Member”) and everyone who uses the Service without registering (together with Members, a “User”) must agree to these Terms before using the Service.
Article 1 (Application of these Terms)
These Terms apply to all relationships between the Company and Users arising from the use of the Service.
Article 2 (Content of the Service)
The Service provides the following functions relating to communication robots (household robots with functions such as conversation and autonomous movement; the “Target Robots”):
- Media content such as introductions, comparisons and reviews of Target Robots.
- Functions for Members to post and view robot ownership history, welcome diaries and similar content (the “Community”).
- Sales agency and brokerage of Target Robots (e-commerce; the start date will be announced separately).
- Other functions related to the above.
Article 3 (Membership Registration)
- Registration is done using the authentication information of the services the Company offers on each language page, among Google, LINE, Apple, Kakao, Naver and Facebook (“External Authentication”).
- The Company issues a RoboPet Life member ID (“member_id”) and manages External Authentication information, site account information and Community (Discourse) account information linked to that member_id.
- The Company may refuse or cancel a registration in any of the following cases:
– the registration used false information;
– the person has previously been suspended for violating these Terms;
– the person registered multiple personal accounts or registered on behalf of someone else;
– the Company otherwise judges the registration to be inappropriate. - Persons under 16 must obtain the consent of a parent or legal guardian before registering or using the Service. By registering or starting to use the Service, the guardian is deemed to have read and agreed to these Terms.
- Members are responsible for managing their own External Authentication accounts and for all acts carried out through those accounts.
Article 4 (Resident Card System)
- A Member may apply for a “Resident Card” for a Target Robot by submitting material that proves its purchase (such as an image of the order completion screen or a receipt).
- The Company does not ask for name, address or other information that identifies an individual to issue a Resident Card. Confirming the model name, purchase date and purchase amount is sufficient.
- The Company checks the authenticity of submitted material within a reasonable scope but does not guarantee its completeness.
Article 5 (Community Rules)
- Members must use the Community functions (posts, comments, likes, etc.) in accordance with the separately provided “RoboPet Life Community Guidelines”.
- The Community Guidelines form part of these Terms.
Article 6 (Prohibited Acts)
Users must not do any of the following when using the Service:
- Acts that violate laws or public order and morals.
- Acts that infringe the intellectual property rights, portrait rights, privacy rights or other rights of the Company, other Users or third parties.
- Defamation, harassment or discriminatory expressions toward other Users.
- Posting false information or impersonation.
- Unauthorized access to the Service’s systems or placing excessive load on them.
- Commercial advertising, promotion or solicitation (unless separately permitted by the Company).
- Inappropriate contact with minors.
- Any other act the Company judges inappropriate.
Article 7 (Notes on Target Robots)
- Many Target Robots featured on the Service are made and sold by overseas manufacturers. For some models, the Company may broker sales under a sales agency agreement with the manufacturer (exclusive or non-exclusive).
- The Company may also introduce and review models for which it has no sales agency agreement, as media content. In that case, the Company is not the seller of the product.
- The Company’s policy is “structural neutrality”, treating products of multiple manufacturers fairly. Where it has a sales agency agreement for a particular model, it may introduce or promote that model based on the agreement and will say so clearly with a label such as “PR”.
- Details of technical standards conformity (such as Japan’s technical conformity certification), import and customs duties, and warranty and after-sales service follow the sales terms presented at purchase where the Company is the seller, or the manufacturer’s terms where it is not.
Article 8 (Intellectual Property)
- Intellectual property rights in content on the Service (articles, comparison databases, designs, etc. created by the Company) belong to the Company or the rightful owners.
- Copyright in content posted by a Member (diaries, reviews, comments, photos, etc.; “Posted Content”) belongs to the Member who posted it.
- Members grant the Company a free license to use Posted Content (including reproduction, public transmission and translation) to the extent necessary to provide and promote the Service (limited to introducing the Service itself).
- Members will not exercise moral rights of authors against the Company with respect to Posted Content. However, the Company will not make modifications against a Member’s wishes.
- If the Company introduces (reposts) Posted Content on media outside the Service, such as its own social media accounts, it will do so only within the license in paragraph 3, by the method set out in the Community Guidelines, and only for Posted Content that the Member has not opted out of. Members may stop such introduction at any time; stopping takes effect only going forward and does not affect content already introduced. The license in paragraph 3 is non-exclusive.
Article 9 (Disclaimers)
- The Company makes reasonable efforts regarding the accuracy, completeness and timeliness of information on the Service but does not guarantee them.
- The Company introduces Target Robots based on information provided by manufacturers. For products the Company does not sell, it is not liable for defects or malfunctions of the product itself.
- For products the Company brokered as a sales agent, the individual sales terms presented at purchase (scope of returns, exchanges and warranty) apply.
- For disputes arising from interactions between Members in the Community, the Company will encourage resolution between the parties and is not liable, except where the Company is itself a party.
- The Company is not liable for interruption, suspension, termination, unavailability or changes of the Service, or for damages Users suffer from using it, except in cases of the Company’s intent or gross negligence.
- The Service is provided “as is”. The Company does not guarantee that the Service will be free of defects or interruptions.
- Each provider is responsible for the content of external sites and advertisements linked from the Service, and the Company does not guarantee them.
- If a third party makes a claim against the Company because of a Member’s acts or content posted by a Member, that Member will resolve it at their own responsibility and compensate the Company for any damage it suffers.
- Nothing in this Article limits any rights a User has under mandatory consumer-protection laws of the User’s place of residence that cannot be excluded.
Article 10 (Leaving the Service)
- Members may leave the Service at any time through the withdrawal procedure on My page.
- When withdrawal is complete, the Company deletes the Member’s account, registered robot information, and the identifiers, gender and age range obtained through External Authentication (Google, LINE, Apple, Kakao, Naver, Facebook). Deleted information cannot be restored. Information that must be retained by law, and information in backups, is erased after the period stated in the Privacy Policy.
- Posts in the Community remain in anonymized form after withdrawal. Please delete any posts you do not want to remain before withdrawing. Parts quoted by other Members may not be deleted.
- Obligations and liabilities that arose before withdrawal do not expire upon withdrawal.
- Members must themselves cancel the link on the External Authentication service’s own settings screen.
- A Member subject to measures under Article 11 cannot avoid them by withdrawing and re-registering. For this check, the Company may store email addresses and External Authentication identifiers in a form that does not directly identify individuals (such as hash values).
- If a Member has not logged in for two years or more, the Company may process withdrawal after prior notice by email (or, for Members whose email cannot be obtained, by notice on the Service).
Article 11 (Suspension and Deregistration)
If the Company judges that a Member has committed an act listed in Article 6, it may delete posts, suspend use, or deregister the Member without prior notice. If a rights holder claims that Posted Content infringes their rights, the Company may first hide the content and decide whether to restore it after the dispute between the parties is resolved.
Article 12 (Exclusion of Antisocial Forces)
- Each Member represents and warrants, now and in the future, that they are none of the following:
(1) an organized crime group, a member of one, a person who left one less than five years ago, an associate member, a company related to such a group, a corporate extortionist, a person posing as a social movement, a special intelligence violent group, or any similar person (together, “Antisocial Forces”);
(2) a person whose management is controlled by, or substantially involves, Antisocial Forces;
(3) a person who uses Antisocial Forces, or provides funds or benefits to them, or otherwise has a relationship with Antisocial Forces that should be socially condemned. - Each Member warrants that they will not, by themselves or through a third party, do any of the following:
(1) violent demands;
(2) unreasonable demands beyond legal liability;
(3) threatening words or conduct, or use of violence;
(4) spreading rumors, or using fraud or force, to damage the credit of the Company or other Members or to obstruct their business;
(5) other acts similar to the above. - If the Company judges that a Member has violated the preceding two paragraphs, it may suspend or deregister that Member without prior notice.
- The Company is not liable for any damage to a Member caused by measures under the preceding paragraph. If the Company suffers damage, that Member will compensate it.
Article 13 (Changes to these Terms)
The Company may change these Terms when it deems necessary, by notifying Members by email or notice on the Service. Changed Terms take effect when displayed on the Service. Material changes will be announced at least 30 days before they take effect. Using the Service after a change takes effect is deemed agreement to the changed Terms.
Article 14 (Severability and No Assignment)
- If any provision of these Terms is held invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.
- Members may not assign their rights or obligations under these Terms to a third party without the Company’s prior written consent.
Article 15 (Notices)
The Company gives notices to Members by email, notice on the Service, or any other method the Company deems appropriate. For Members whose email cannot be obtained, notice on the Service replaces individual notice.

Article 17 (Language, Governing Law and Jurisdiction)
The Japanese version of these Terms is the original. This English version is a translation for the convenience of English-speaking Users; if the two differ, the Japanese version prevails.
These Terms are governed by the laws of Japan. For disputes between the Company and a User concerning the Service, the Tokyo District Court is the exclusive court of agreed jurisdiction in the first instance. (This does not apply where mandatory laws, such as consumer-protection laws of the User’s place of residence, allow a consumer to sue in a court of their residence.)
